Barred Owl
Notice how well this Owl blends in with his surroundings.
He is watching for the slightest movement in the grasses
below his command post. His prey seldom hears him coming.
Barred Owls are mostly nocturnal but can be vocal during the daytime.
Common in coniferous or mixed woods of river bottoms and
swamps, also upland woods.
This Owl was photographed along the roadside near Saylorville
Lake.
